NEW ORLEANS — The as we get closer and closer to election day. Thursday evening, WWL Louisiana hosted a debate with the top three polling candidates, former interim NOPD Superintendent Michelle Woodfork, incumbent Sheriff Susan Hutson and Orleans Parish Constable Edwin Shorty.

There’s no question that the is playing a major role in this year’s Orleans Parish Sheriff’s race. The issue was brought up several times during Thursday night’s debate, with sharp disagreements over how the situation was handled — and whether the public and law enforcement partners were notified fast enough.
