OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The University of Nebraska System announced its received more than $400 million in private donations in a single year. Of that money, UNO is getting $59 million for the 2025 fiscal year.

$17.1 million is designated for their Biomechanics Department for a new building, labs and equipment.

Assistant Dean and Director Dr. Nick Stergiou explained the study of biomechanics and how it can impact your safety in everyday life.

“The comfort of your seating in your car. That could be an outcome of biomechanics. Pretty much every major shoe company has a huge biomechanics laboratory where they actually study how shoes affect your performance , and they try to develop them better,” explained Dr. Stergiou.
