A Roseville police evidence technician displayed a pair of women’s sneakers with one of them missing a shoelace that prosecutors say a man used to kill a woman in her home at the accused murderer’s trial Friday.

Detective Anthony Benincasa took the stand at the trial in Macomb County Circuit Court of Stephen Freeman, 22, who is charged with first-degree, premeditated murder in the strangulation death of Gabriele Seitz, 62, in October 2022 in her Roseville ranch-style apartment.

Benincasa was a patrol officer and evidence technician when he went to the Seitz’s home shortly after her body was found in the bed of her Ford Ranger that was involved in a car crash at noon Oct. 27, 2022 at Hayes and Common Roads, about 1-½ miles from her home at 12 Mile and Utica Roads.
