EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Students across the nation are pushing for more action on gun control as part of a nationwide walkout led by an organization called Students Demand Action.

Today’s protests included students right here in the Tri-State at the University of Southern Indiana.

“All we want is gun safety in America,” Cade Smithson, a USI student who organized the protest said.

“We want to reach our representatives here locally. That would be Wendy McNamara, Tim O’Brien, as well as obviously Governor Braun. And then here in the 8th district, Mark Messmer,” Smithson said. “We really just want them to pay attention and pass a secure gun storage law immediately.”

They say their demonstration is bigger than just them.
