OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - After some stopping and starting, the oldest existing park in the City of Omaha has finally rebuilt something it lost a few years ago.
Early in the morning about three years ago, someone set fire to the Hanscom Park gazebo.
The decades-old structure was reduced to a pile of burned-up rubble.
Erasing memories of many who took graduation and wedding pictures there.
Now the gazebo has risen from the ashes. Bigger. Better. And made of metal.
The ribbon cutting ceremony official opened the gazebo to the neighborhood with the help of a public-private partnership.
“The city is limited in its resources and what they can do, so we are independent,” said Tiffany Reagan, executive director of the Omaha Parks Foundation.
