A Whitestone man died Thursday evening after his motorcycle was involved in a collision on the northbound Cross Island Parkway service road near 157th Street in Whitestone.

Police said officers from the 109th Precinct responded at 7:06 p.m. to a 911 call reporting the collision. James Korakis, 21, of Ninth Avenue, was in critical condition when EMS personnel took him to to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens hospital in Flushing, where he was later pronounced dead.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that Korakis was operating a BMW motorcycle, traveling northbound on the CIP service road.
