A mother-daughter duo from Porter County has claimed the $150,000 prize from a winning Powerball ticket sold for Monday's drawing at Strack & Van Til in Chesterton.

According to the Hoosier Lottery, the women, identified as Helen and Robin, agreed to each put up $20 for a chance to win the then-$1.2 billion Powerball jackpot and to split any prize money.

Helen purchased the tickets with the Power Play add-on that Robin discovered the morning after the drawing had turned their $50,000 win — for matching four of the five white balls and the red Powerball — into a $150,000 payday.

The women told Hoosier Lottery officials they plan to save and invest their winnings after treating the whole family to a celebratory dinner.
