An updated report from the National Weather Service was issued on Friday at 6:05 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 6:30 p.m. for Ochoco-John Day Highlands and Central Oregon.

The storms may bring nickel-sized hail (0.88 inches).

"At 6:05 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Grizzly, or near Prineville, moving northwest at 15 mph," says the weather service. "Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible."

The alert is for Grizzly.

The weather service comments, "If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle."
