An elderly husband and wife were killed in a two-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon in west suburban Geneva, authorities said.
The incident was reported at around 1:40 p.m. near Bricher Road and Fisher Drive, according to Geneva police. A preliminary investigation revealed a 2020 BMW X3 SUV traveling eastbound on Bricher Road struck a 2005 Toyota Corolla, which was attempting to turn westbound onto Bricher Road from Fisher Drive.
The impact of the collision sent the BMW into a wooded area north of the intersection and caused the vehicle to catch fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters, authorities said. An 85-year-old man driving the Corolla and his 88-year-old wife died in the crash, police said.
