After moving to Strathnairn five years ago for house prices and a love of the area, Mona Soleymani is looking forward to becoming part of the new primary school community.
Her daughter Anita will be starting in year 2 in 2026, moving from the Catholic school system to the new Strathnairn School.
"We always wanted her to go to a public school, but there weren't enough choices here," Ms Soleymani said.
She said she liked the mountain views and the beauty in the area.
"It's very pristine and pure; it reminds me of my childhood."
The public school curriculum, tuition fees, and not having religious classes were part of the reason she leaned towards the public system.
