SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — Even in the afterlife, a fallen Connecticut State Trooper will continue to watch over his community.

State Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier is being honored in a powerful way, as the bridge near the spot where he lost his life last year was officially dedicated in his name.

"Trooper First Class Pelletier was a shining example of the very best," said Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, during the ceremony on Friday afternoon.

In May 2024, Pelletier was fatally struck by a pickup truck while doing a traffic stop on Interstate 84 in Southington, the town where he lived.
