CHESHIRE, Conn. — Those who spend time in Cheshire may remember the Hickory Hill Orchards, a place to pick your own apples on South Meriden Road.
A few years ago, the family who owned the business since the 1970's decided to close it down. Now, starting this weekend, it's back open under new ownership, thanks to a family from Milford giving it a new life.
It almost sounds like something out of a Hallmark movie, but David Esposito said before he stepped in to save the orchard, developers were looking to bulldoze it over.
He knew they couldn't let that happen, after touring the orchard and falling it love with it. His family was originally looking to open something like a wedding venue, but the apples caught their eye.
"It had been about three years since the trees had been tended to
