OMAHA, Neb. —

Burke High School in Omaha celebrated the unveiling of its new stadium as the Bulldogs played their first home game on the new turf, marking a significant milestone in the school's sports history.

For five decades, the stadium has been legendary in Nebraska, hosting the Nebraska State Track Meet each spring in addition to Burke's own sports teams. They marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting Friday afternoon, inviting alumni, OPS board members, and Burke students and staff. The Bulldogs later took the field against Creighton Prep for their first home game.

"The entire state knows about this stadium and about Burke High School, as each spring athletes from across the state say it loud and say it proud: 'We are Burke bound,'" Burke Principal Darren Rasmussen said.
