ST. JOHN — Running back wasn't where Jacob Turley's football journey began.

The Lake Central junior played quarterback for most of his career before coaches moved him to outside linebacker last fall. Just two weeks into the 2024 season, another switch came — this time to running back — almost exactly a year ago against Portage.

"He came out the gate really hot last year against Portage. Obviously he's improved a lot since then," quarterback Cameron Reddick said. "He really wants to better himself and that helps everybody else around him, especially me because I know I can rely on him."

Turley delivered again Friday against Portage, rushing 14 times for more than 130 yards and a touchdown to power Lake Central to a 26-0 win.
