KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Kansas City's Yoyner Fajardo scored on Garrett Alexander's second wild pitch of the 15th inning as the Monarchs forced a deciding Game 3 with a 4-3 walk-off win Friday against Fargo-Moorhead in the American Association West Division playoffs.
The game was the longest playoff game by innings in RedHawks history. Game 3 is at 6:35 p.m. Saturday at Legends Field.
The Monarchs scored twice in the 15th after Fargo-Moorhead's Aidan Byrne laid down a safety squeeze to score Juan Fernandez from third for a 3-2 lead in the top half of the inning.
Brantley Bell sparked Kansas City's rally with a lead-off single and Michah Pries followed with a tough double-play ball where the shortstop Byrne overthrew the relay into the dugout to put Pries on second.
