BBC Breakfast presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt had a chat with guest Adam Ball on Saturday, who was told he had "30 years to live".
At the start of the programme, Naga introduced, "Given 30 years to live after being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, how Adam Ball is defying predictions and marking his birthday by swimming the length of the Lake District's largest lakes."
Just prior to connecting with Adam via video link, Naga stated, "The time now is 20 minutes past six. Now, Adam Ball was just six weeks old when he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening condition affecting his ability to breathe.
"Now, despite being given a life expectancy of 30, he's celebrating that milestone birthday by swimming the entire length of 13 of the Lake District's lakes."
