The news that The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, or the AJC as most of us now know it, will print its last newspaper at the end of this year came as a great surprise to me.
I should have seen in coming, since for the last couple of years the actual print copy was not delivered in Canton and other outlying suburbs. But still it saddened me to see this end of an era.
While we will still get the newspaper electronically, it will be different.
The Atlanta newspaper is actually the combination of two newspapers, the morning Atlanta Journal that for years covered “Dixie Like the Dew,” and the Atlanta Constitution.
Between them the two newspapers, which later consolidated, have chronicled the news in our state for decades.
