A retired U.S. Marine Corps gunnery sergeant wounded in Afghanistan and his U.S. Army veteran wife, a helicopter pilot in the same conflict, received the ultimate “thank you for your serv­ice” last month — a three-bedroom, two-bath, mortgage-free home with garage in the Ai­naloa subdivision of Pahoa on the Big Isle.

The 1,252-square-foot house and 12,000-square-foot lot was presented Aug. 28 to Matthew Storment and Gabrielle “Gabby” Quatse Storment through the Homes4WoundedHeroes program of the San Antonio- based nonprofit Military Warriors Support Foundation, in partnership with Bank of America.
