PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (WFLA) — A Clearwater man was arrested less than a day after a child disclosed being sexually abused by him for years, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

An investigation was launched on Friday, September 5, after an 11-year-old middle school student disclosed being sexually abused by a family member. Detectives soon learned that the suspect, 42-year-old Anthony Johnson, was not related to the victim, but she had been living in his home for years.

PCSO said the child experienced abuse at the hands of Johnson for nearly six years, starting when she was around 5 years old.
