CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - It’s been exactly six years since authorities found 16-year-old Jaquez Cromwell dead on James Island , but the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says the search for suspects has not stopped.
Investigators say on Sept. 6, 2019, Cromwell went with a parent to his grandparents’ home on Jeffery Road to prepare for a hurricane. At some point, investigators say Cromwell walked away and was met by someone who shot him on a dirt path between Jeffery and Honey Hill roads.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says Cromwell remained missing during the subsequent severe weather, and his body wasn’t found until days later.
Detectives say they don’t currently have any suspects in the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Barry Goldstein at
