AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF) - Every year, our country remembers those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

This is the 9th year of the Tunnel to Towers 5K in Augusta and many are running for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation which honors and supports first responders and the military.

Stephen Siller was with the New York Fire Department when he lost his life after running from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.

The foundation was formed just three months after the 9/11 attacks.

For those taking part and those cheering them on, the event serves as a reminder that the country will never forget.
