On September 4, the Department of the Interior announced Secretary’s Order 3442 to coordinate the implementation of the use of funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. According to a press release published by the NPS, a $437,377,607 fund has been allocated to all 50 states to ‘reflect President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to expanding outdoor recreation, reducing red tape and ensuring that America’s public lands serve the American people.’

However, conservation groups, such as the Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks, the Nevada Conservation League, and the Mojave Desert Land Trust, are now claiming the new order puts protected lands at risk.
