The Sioux City Explorers are a game away from advancing in the Wolff Cup Playoffs.

Sioux City Explorers beat Sioux Falls, 5-0, on Wednesday night in Sioux Falls to open the American Association of Professional Baseball playoffs.

Game 2 happens on Friday night in Sioux City.

The Explorers needed to send just four batters to the plate in order to lead 3-0.

Explorers' leadoff hitter Austin Davis ripped a Tanner Brown pitch into left field for a double and Henry George followed with a sharply hit ball to single in Davis before D'Shawn Knowles crushed a triple into the left-center gap to score George and Josh Day capped the first inning surge with a deep fly ball to right field to score Knowles from third.
