A community in Melbourne's north is concerned its small rural village is unprepared for a new suburb-sized housing estate that will include more than 1,300 new homes.
Riddells Creek, just under an hour from Melbourne, is famed for its gaggle of geese that meanders across the main road each day.
Residents were dismayed last week when a large truck could not stop in time and struck and killed a goose.
They fear the accident is a symbol of trouble ahead, when the town almost doubles in size due to the newly approved estate.
"Traffic is going to be a major issue," Riddells Creek Men's Shed secretary Don Clark said.
"If roads are not planned well … there's going to be a major issue."
