LEXINGTON, Ky. ( WKYT /Gray News) - A college student accused of hiding a dead baby in a trash bag has withdrawn from her university.

According to UK spokesperson Jay Blanton, Laken Snelling has withdrawn from the University of Kentucky.

Snelling was arrested last week after police said they f ound a baby’s body inside a closet following a call for an unresponsive infant at a home on Park Avenue in Lexington.

According to Lexington police, the infant was wrapped in a towel inside a black trash bag.

The baby was pronounced dead at the scene, and the boy’s mother was later identified as 21-year-old Snelling.

Lexington police said she admitted to giving birth and concealing it by cleaning evidence and hiding everything in a trash bag.
