The bloke found with a steel conker at last year’s World Championships will bring it back when he defends his crown this autumn. ‌

David Jakins, the tournament’s honorary “King Conker”, made global headlines last year after winning the men’s event at his 46th attempt. ‌

The retired engineer, 83, was c aught with a metal nut, painted to look like a real conker, but was cleared of cheating following an investigation by organisers. ‌

Jakins has now revealed he has been using the 200g device in practice – and has been asked to bring it to the contes
