DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) -- Pickleball action continued this weekend to help support families dealing with cancer. Members of Port City Pickleball began their weekend tournament Saturday.

“Port City Pickleball Funds the Cure” raises money for cancer charities Rapahope and the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. The echo of the game could be heard across W.O. Lott Park in Daphne. Organizers said the sport is growing in popularity and one of their goals is to give back to the community.

"Just over the course of the past few years, we've seen a big tick, a big growth in the sport of pickleball," Port City Pickleball co-owner and founder Michael Nguyen said. "We wanted to tap into to that sport and utilize that as a way to really help out the community."
