A Sudbury man who calls himself a pedophile and who is already designated a dangerous offender, will undergo a new psychiatric assessment after pleading guilty to a new set of charges where he talked about raping babies.

Depending on the results of that assessment, Sudbury prosecutors may seek to have Michael Tomasik declared a dangerous offender for a second time.

Given his criminal history, a second dangerous offender designation could mean Tomasik would remain in custody indefinitely.

Assistant Crown attorney Kenrick Abbott told The Star that the Sudbury Crown’s office will decide, after reviewing the psychiatric assessment, whether to pursue a second dangerous offender designation for Tomasik.

Tomasik’s next court date will be in video remand court on Jan. 15.
