The province’s police watchdog agency is investigating following a collision in Welland involving an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser and a motorcycle, which sent a man to hospital with serious injuries.
On Friday, at about 9:40 p.m., an officer in a police vehicle from the Niagara Detachment of the OPP highway safety division was involved in a collision with a motorcycle on Highway 58A near Reaker Road.
The motorcyclist was transported to hospital with serious injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
The officer did not sustain any injuries.
As of 1 p.m. Saturday, Hwighway 58A remained closed in the westbound and eastbound lanes between Rusholme, Netherby and Reaker roads as the investigation continues.
