RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) -- A man who was shot while driving crashed his SUV into another vehicle in northeast Raleigh Saturday afternoon, police said.

The incident was initially reported as a vehicle wreck around 4:05 p.m. in the 4900 block Hollenden Drive, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

Instead, police discovered a scene where a driver had been shot just east of U.S. 1/Capital Boulevard, officers said. The incident happened when a man was fleeing the area in a gray SUV and was shot by someone, police said.

The driver of the gray SUV then crashed into another car, but no one in the other vehicle was hurt, according to police.
