TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — A sad scene unfolded Friday morning on Interstate 85 in Troup County after deputies said a driver drove off a bridge and crashed into a creek, ultimately killing him.
The Troup County Sheriff's Office said that the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-85. Deputies said they are still unsure what caused the driver to crash over the bridge.
Deputies praised several Good Samaritans, who after the crash, got out of their cars and walked down to the creek bank, where they jumped in the water with the car fully submerged and pulled the driver out of the car to the shore. Sadly, the driver died from his injuries.
