EAST LANSING – Nobody played more defensive snaps for Michigan State last year than safety Nikai Martinez but he’s still missing from the lineup.
Martinez is one of six Spartans (1-0) listed as out on the pregame availability report for Saturday’s matchup (7:30 p.m., NBC) against Boston College (1-0). The senior didn’t play in last week’s 23-6 season-opening win against Western Michigan due to the undisclosed injury.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Friday reported Martinez would remain sidelined against the Eagles.
With Martinez out, Armorion Smith took over his spot in the starting lineup opposite Malik Spencer against the Broncos.
