An East High School student was detained after taking a gun on campus in his bag, school officials said in an email to parents this week.
Denver Public Schools safety officers on Thursday received a report that a student had a gun on school property, and they attempted to escort the student out of class to somewhere private, principal Terita Walker wrote in an email to the East High community.
“The student resisted, and he was placed in handcuffs for the safety of everyone involved. Officers later found a gun in his bag,” Walker wrote.
The Denver Police Department confirmed officers detained a juvenile on Thursday morning but declined to release further information because the person was younger than 18.
