Carson Beck made history Saturday night, becoming the first Miami Hurricanes quarterback to open a game with 15 consecutive completions as the fifth-ranked Hurricanes jumped out to a commanding first-half 28-3 lead against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.
Beck broke Vinny Testaverde’s single-game program record for consecutive completions versus Oklahoma, which had stood since 1986.
He capped his record-setting start by hitting CJ Daniels on a fade route for a touchdown late in the second quarter, Daniels’ second score of the night and third of the season.
The Hurricanes quickly took control despite a chippy opening. Miami linebacker Wesley Bissainthe was ejected for targeting on the Wildcats’ first possession after a helmet-to-helmet hit.
