Oregon State’s mistake-riddled special teams during the first half of Saturday’s game against Fresno State was marred by a particularly forgettable moment late in the second quarter.
In the final minute of the first half, the Beavers faced fourth and 11 from their 36-yard line, so punter AJ Winsor lined up to boot the ball away. But Winsor couldn’t handle the snap, dropping the ball before chasing it down and kicking it off the bounce.
Then things went from bad to worse for the Beavers.
The ball skidded feebly along the turf, and Fresno State’s Jaden Carrillo fielded it on the run. Carrillo then dashed 42 yards down the left sideline for a return touchdown that stunned the Corvallis crowd.
