BLACKSBURG — What changed at halftime, Virginia Tech?

The offense that methodically moved the ball throughout the first half lost rhythm. A defense that showed so much promise in the season opener and for most of the opening 30 minutes was exploited on every drive.

Vanderbilt scored five second-half touchdowns and handed Virginia Tech a 44-20 beatdown Saturday evening at Lane Stadium that marked a low point in Brent Pry’s tenure.

It marked the first time since 2010 that the Hokies (0-2) lost their first two games of the season.

Tech showed fight in a season-opening loss to then-No.
