The caring Bristol neighbourhood where strangers 'say hello' and kids are looked after

Residents have spoken of the strength of community in one of Bristol's most diverse inner-city neighbourhoods. Over the last decade an inspiring research project has helped connect communities in Barton Hill and tackle social isolation.

Barton Hill is a disadvantaged part of the city east of Temple Meads and is home to people from lots of different places, including many Somalis.

People living and working in the area shared their experiences during a council meeting last week, highlighting how volunteers have worked hard to build bridges in the neighbourhood, including with a popular after-school club.
