Shadow immigration minister Paul Scarr has expressed “deep concerns” about the Albanese government’s handling of immigration policy.
The comments come after the release of the 2025–26 permanent migration program figures, which Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke confirmed at 185,000.
Mr Scarr, in response, criticised the government’s approach to long-term planning, saying the figures were released with little explanation.
“When the government released those figures during the week, they released a few paragraphs,” he told Sky News Sunday Agenda.
