The country’s south-west is likely set to see a reprieve from rainy skies following a wet and chilly weekend on the west coast.

The Western Australian capital experienced a high of under 20 degrees amid a wet Sunday for much of the state, while temperatures in the high or mid 20s were also seen along the east coast.

Parts of Queensland enjoyed a warmer end to the weekend, though, with Longreach experiencing a maximum temperature of 31.7 degrees and Cairns a high of 29.6 degrees.

Examining the forecast for the start of the week, Sky News Weather Presenter Julia Seymour said a cold front, which had brought wet and windy weather with it, would continue to push across the country’s south-east into Monday.
