MEMPHIS, Tenn. — As the University of Memphis (U of M) begins its 2025 fall semester under a cloud of concerns from students and faculty, President Bill Hardgrave has been approved to receive a $100,000 performance bonus.
U of M's Board of Trustees finalized Hardgrave’s annual review during a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, where they approved the bonus as deferred compensation.
According to board documents, the bonus was "based on the successful review and evaluation of his job performance” over the past year.
Hardgrave, who was appointed as the 13th president in November 2021 and began his tenure in April 2022, currently earns an annual salary of $650,000 .
