EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Special Olympics Kentucky took to the field today for their State Softball Tournament.
More than 500 Special Olympics athletes from across the state of Kentucky competed for medals in 10 divisions in the State Tournament.
It all took place at Jack C. Fisher park in Owensboro.
Officials say 40 teams competed. Five of those are from Owensboro.
Two additional teams, including one from Owensboro, will take part in the Skills Competition.
One athlete, who will be representing Team Kentucky in the U.S. games, says she has loved spending time with her coaches and friends this weekend.
