Two Victorian railway carriages which spent nearly a century as a home in Warwickshire are being donated to heritage railway organisations for restoration. The carriages, built in the 1800s, were bought in 1928 and converted into living accommodation.
For decades they were home to two women, Ms Mabel Webb and her lifelong friend and companion Ms Hilda 'Janie' Friday, who lived there until at least the mid-1970s.
The land the property sits on in Armscote, Warwickshire, has recently been purchased by Trudie Hopcroft and her husband John, who bought a house near Shipston-on-Stour in June having relocated to the region to be near family.
