Coventry City Council has been named as one of the local authorities being investigated in a national inquiry into grooming gangs. Sir Keir Starmer announced earlier this year that there would be a series of targeted investigations into child sexual exploitation in England and Wales.

Girls as young as 10 were reportedly exploited, abused, plied with drugs and alcohol and then brutally raped by gangs. Starmer said the inquiry represents a key opportunity to uncover the truth and hold institutions accountable for historic failings.
