It’s shaping up to be one of those ‘David v Goliath’ battles, or so it would seem.

In this case, the ‘David’ is the group of residents who feel hugely aggrieved by the approval of a planning application that has resulted in 60ft high mega structures resembling a ‘cruise liner’ towering over their homes in the Astley area of Wigan .

The ‘Goliath’ is the giant landowner PLP - Peel Land and Property - who in June last year succeeded in getting planning approval from Wigan council for four huge warehouses on 30 acres of land backing on to homes on the Henfold Estate and others on the opposite side on streets including Thistlecroft.
