TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) -- A weather delay of more than two hours had zero effect on Arizona as it routed Weber State 48-3 in Tucson late Saturday, Sept. 6.
Noah Fifita passed for 379 yards and a career-high five touchdowns while Javin Whatley caught five passes for 168 yards and two scores for Arizona. Fifita went 17-for-22 passing and had the same number of touchdowns as incompletions.
The Wildcats’ defense had two turnovers, several sacks, and held Weber State, from the Football Championship Subdivision, to less than 200 yards of offense.
The game was scheduled to start at 7 p.m., but lightning forced several delays. Fans and tailgaters were told to leave the stadium and take cover until around 8:30 p.m. Kickoff happened at 9:10 p.m.
