PEORIA, Ill. – An iconic downtown Peoria business is closed temporarily.

George Manias, owner of George’s Shoeshine, said on a Facebook post he will not be able to open his shop until he is cleared by his doctor – hopefully in early October.

Manias said he’d like to open sooner, but, – in his words – my legs aren’t cooperating.

Manias said he would keep everyone informed on his Facebook page.

Manias posted August 25 he had returned from a trip to Greece “well-rested and tan.” However, he could not report to his shop because “my knee isn’t cooperating.”
