CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — There was a big turnout Saturday night to see the eight-time Super Bowl champ in the Queen City despite the rain that pushed the game into a one-hour delay.

Both coaches were looking for their first win of the season.

Early on, the Tar Heels quieted the rowdy crowd with Gio Lopez's 51-yard strike to Chris Culliver. Heels were up 7-0 before Rece Verhoff's 48-yard field goal put Heels ahead by 10 heading into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, the Niners add a field goal, but the Heels extend the gap with another touchdown shortly before halftime, going into the locker room up 17-3.
