Electric scooter laws are set to be introduced soon as the Labour Party government vows to "properly regulate" controversial vehicles. The Labour Party government accused the previous Conservative Party government of 'dragging their heels' over the issue.

Ministers have pledged to introduce legislation for electric scooters following mounting safety concern. The plan stated: “Creating a clear route to market will drive the investment and usage in these new vehicles, unleashing businesses from the current regulatory burdens and kick-starting economic growth.”

No specific announcement has been made, but a pledge to seek “legislative reform for micromobility vehicles” was included in the industrial strategy published in June.
