The Tulsa Symphony’s official season-opening concert is still a month off, but the orchestra will offer the first in its series of “Symphony Sessions” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 at the Lorton Performance Center, 550 S. Gary Ave., on the University of Tulsa campus.

Guest conductor David Lockington will lead the orchestra in a program that features two classic works for string orchestra, along with a contemporary work.

The newest work is Vivian Fung’s Concerto for Two Violins, commissioned by the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, which gave the premiere performance in 2019. The work has been performed by the New York Chamber Players and the Richmond (Virginia) Orchestra, and it was used as part of the score of “Dancing Apart Together,” a ballet
