The Big 12 Conference had a big bounce-back week during Week 2 of the college football season — but also suffered arguably its biggest upset.
That came in the form of No. 10 Arizona State (1-1) , which fell 24-20 on the road at Mississippi State, a team coming off a 2-10 season in Jeff Lebby's first season in Starkville, Mississippi. The Sun Devils clawed back from a 17-0 deficit to take their first lead of the game, 20-17, with a field goal at the 1:48 mark left in the fourth quarter.
However, a 58-yard Mississippi State touchdown pass with 30 seconds left proved the ultimate difference in the defeat. While the loss certainly doesn't preempt Kenny Dillingham's ASU team from competing for the Big 12 or College Football Playoff, it nonetheless stings for a team coming off a CFP bert
